Youth Recreational House and Travel Leagues
Recreational Leagues are available throughout Northern Virginia and are an excellent way for girls and boys in grade school to learn, play and enjoy volleyball.
They are open to participants regardless of skill level and past playing experience. The leagues are commonly run during the Spring (Mar to Jun) and/or Fall (Sep to Nov) seasons, and are divided by age/grade: Elementary School (3rd - 6th grades), Middle School (6th - 8th grades) and High School (9th - 12th grades). Teams typically practice 1 - 2 days per week with 1 match per week.
In addition to instructional “House” leagues for beginner and intermediate players, some programs also offer “Select” / "Elite" / “Travel” leagues for more advanced players (this is different from Club Volleyball travel teams).
House Leagues
The organizations below run youth recreational volleyball programs. Most are operated by local non-profit sports organizations that also support other youth sports (basketball, soccer, etc.). All have "House" leagues which are open to all regardless of skill and experience, with matches played against teams in the same organization.

Travel Leagues
Multiple volleyball organization participate in "Travel" leagues where teams from each organization play competitive matches against each other. Girls travel teams are usually composed of advanced players from their respective recreational programs selected through a tryout process. Boys travel programs pool together the small number of boys teams into larger competitive leagues.
