Pentagon Juniors based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, shares a defensive drill that focuses on training defenders to watch the opponent's pass, then watch the setter and release quickly to their defensive position.

Coaches can emphasize different teaching points by changing the location of the pass, variations of the set, and throwing in some over passes or setter dumps to work on the defense reading and being prepared to make plays in base. You can also add the passer covering after he or she plays the ball to the setter then quickly getting back. Setters can also focus on setting location and being deceptive.
